Springfield Looks To Continue Win Streak

The Springfield Falcons (38-18-1-5) defeated the Providence Bruins 4-2 Saturday night at the MassMutual Center, extending the team’s winning streak to four games.

Star of the game Dana Tyrell scored the decisive goal, sinking the game-winner at 4:34 of the third period on a wrist shot from the left-wing circle. The Airdrie, Alberta native is new to Springfield. After being acquired in a trade with the Syracuse Crunch Wednesday, March 5, he now has four points (two goals, two assists) in five games since joining the Falcons.
Ryan Craig continued his point streak to seven games, with a goal at 14:25 in the third. The captain has earned nine points (six goals, three assists) over the Falcon’s past seven-game stretch.
The Falcons scored on their first power-play of the night, a 5-on-3 man advantage, as Michael Chaput buried home a centering feed from Carter Camper at 9:02 of the first period.
Sean Collins’ 12th goal of the season gave the Falcons a 2-1 lead at 18:56 of the second period, he scored off of another Camper feed. Collins extended his point streak to four games, totaling six points (two goals, four assists) over that span. With his two assists Saturday, Camper has registered four helpers in his last three games.
Springfield goaltender Mike McKenna made 31 saves on 33 shots, earning his team-high 19th victory of the season. He’s won his last four starts and has not lost in regulation since February 22 versus the Hartford Wolfpack.
The Falcons play again on Friday, March 21 against Worcester at 7 p.m.
