Penguins Claim Game 1 Over Predators

The Pittsburgh Penguins went 37 minutes without registering a shot on goal before Jake Guentzel tallied the game winner with 3:17 remaining in regulation to help send the Penguins to a 5-3 victory to claim Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Nashville Predators Monday night at PPG Paints Arena.

Penguins Evgeni Malkin, Conor Sheary and Nick Bonino scored in the first and captain Sidney Crosby collected two assists in the first period. Bonino later added an empty-netter to close the scoring.

Netminder Matt Murray made 23 saves, while Pekka Rinne stopped seven of 11 Penguins shots.

Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final will take place Wednesday (8 p.m. ET) at PPG Paints Arena.
